Personally I feel the title should be:
The End of Windows

I also feel like ColdFusion’s jump to MacOS is akin to breaking up with one toxic relationship and jumping into just another zero-sum relationship

It’s better than windows for folks who don’t know or want linux. At least it’s a BSD underneath. Anything is better than windows.

Windows has been pretty stable for years, the days of constant bsod are gone.

The issue isn’t the kernel, the issue is privacy. Them shoving unwanted privacy invading features down your throat.

MacOS is a closed source OS controlled by a corporation, they cannot be trusted.

Microsoft is making Windows 11 for AI to use, so I guess only AI will use it in the future.

macOS is good enough for people who want to be spoonfed an experience.

Linux is built by people for people who desire freedom in computing.

Much like xbox has become too little money for them to care about, so too is the desktop OS. At this point it is much more valuable as a tool to make people too dumb to do anything without AI.

I’ve been told I can have “not windows” on my work laptop when I’m eligible for an upgrade in September. Don’t know if that will be Linux (as requested) or a macbook. I’d prefer the former but I’ll be thrilled with either. This will finally be a microsoft free household.

TF is still using Windows for main? If you care about privacy you only use it as a host for the applications that can’t be ported away.

I use Windows because I have light guns and all the software seems to be Windows only so far.

For my mains, I use Bazzite, Mint, and Mac OS.

Going back to Windows sometimes can be jarring.

Light guns, as input devices for CRT?

lobut@lemmy.ca on 13 Dec 20:15 collapse

I’m using the RS3 Reaper Guns and connect it to my LCD TV right now.

It uses sensors so I’m going to try it on my friend’s wall project in a few weeks.

I’m trying to quit Windows completely at this point. Previous attempts with Mint, Bazzite, and Pop OS were mostly unsuccessful but CachyOS so far is looking very promising
