Is there a way I can use TrackerControl + a VPN? (trackercontrol.org)

There are other services that perform a similar function but at the DNS level. NextDNS is one that I’ve used. It doesn’t take the VPN slot.

I heard DNS was just websites’ addresses?

That is true but blocking DNS will stop apps from accessing the internet.

So what does TrackerControl even do?

“TrackerControl allows users to monitor and control the widespread, ongoing, hidden data collection in mobile apps about user behaviour (‘tracking’).

To detect tracking, TrackerControl combines the power of the Disconnect blocklist, used by Firefox, and our in-house blocklist is used, created from analysing ~2 000 000 apps! Additionally, TrackerControl supports custom blocklists.”

NextDNS, RethinkDNS do this through a website instead of an app using blocklists as well as you manually selecting trackers you want blocked. You can combine DNS and a VPN if you wish.

However, TrackerControl is detected by the phone as a VPN itself. Which means, I can’t. I like TrackerControl because I can disable specofic trackers for apps that don’t work without them, and even see the tracker lists.

TC is not a vpn. It will not hide your traffic from your isp nor hide your ip address from websites.

DNS based blockers can do the tracker blocking that TC does with the bonus of being able to use a vpn at the same time.

Having said that, a vpn isn’t a magic bullet when it comes to hiding ones location. There are many ways your phone can do this without the ip. TheHatedOne has a video on this www.bitchute.com/video/WkmTxBTe52o

The choice is yours.

I am pretty sure in TC’s advanced settings it let’s you input the details of a real VPN service, that tracker control will still apply its magic while routing all of your outgoing traffic through the service/credentials you designate.

Hmmm, I can’t find such option.
