That website is not recommended in the privacy community, I cannot remember why, but this is the recommended list: www.privacyguides.org/en/email

Edit: Why

this whole thing has been exhausting tbh. hard to blame people who use gmail these days

Actually gmail has one thing correct, Google had been promoting MTA-STS. I am planning on moving to namecheap cPanel email and see if I can enable MTA-STS my domain.

To paint a more complete picture, PrivacyGuides.org comes from the subreddit of the same name. When I was last there (about a year ago) some of the people behind that subreddit had a habit of pushing misguided views as if they were facts, and did so with an air of authority that came from their control of the subreddit and the site.

My point is not to support either group, but just a warning: They are not “the privacy community”. Please take their advice with a grain of salt. Sometimes it’s good, and sometimes it is not so good.

Thanks for the additional information.

I’ve been pretty happy with my Proton mail/simple login combo (simple login was bought by proton not that long ago).

In regards to your comments elsewhere in this thread, it can be exhausting at times trying to be perfect in regards to privacy. Just take it one day at a time and even one decision at at time. Just because you gave away info before doesn’t mean that it’s pointless to take one little piece back.

Very recent news: proton has gone full maga: archive.ph/2025.01.15-162500/https://…/m7a91fs/

Let’s try not to miss the forest for the trees here. Proton has done an incredible amount of work in the privacy realm over the last decade. And the product hasn’t changed. Would be a shame to throw all that away because the CEO has some shitty opinions about who is responsible for that. Andy is not a tech billionaire. He’s not the enemy.

I would’ve thought so too, since he’s only 1 of 5 board members, but then he started posting from the company official social media profiles so i guess it’s the opinion of the company too, unless they say otherwise later

unless they say otherwise later

This is my hope. If not because he’s wrong, then because it’s just plain stupid for him to get involved in such a capacity.

all they had to do was shut the fuck up !!!

They did delete the posts, at least. Not great but at least an acknowledgement that maybe this isn’t a good look for the company.

To me the response just reads like they hired a PR crisis firm. Good move, fixes nothing.

Get over it already.
