Alternatives to Google Maps Timeline and location sharing?

I make regular use of both Google Maps’ Timeline feature and Google Maps Location Sharing feature.

Timeline lets me review where I’ve been, which is useful for tracking when I left for work and when I return in order to log my hours after the fact. Location sharing lets me see where my partner is, and when they’re on their way home or to meet me somewhere. Can folks recommend alternatives to both of these? They don’t need to be one single system or app.

You can self host reitti, and submit to it via gpslogger on your phone. That’s how we have it set up

Thanks for the recommendations! I’m going to try this out.

My partner and I live separately, and we use Colota (F-Droid link) to send location data to our individual self-hosted Home Assistant instances.

Our Home Assistant instances are linked together which lets us share our locations with each other.

This might be a bit much to set up just for location sharing, but if you’re using home automation anyway, it’s nice to have it all tied together.
