Does Google Trackers on a site/app means Google can see what you type on the website/what you do on it?

For an example, my country’s government app contains Google Trackers on it. Does it mean Google can see my face scans on it/my full name on it?

Unless the app’s code is able to be audited (open source or leaked source), you probably won’t be able to know for sure. There’s a possibility that the Google trackers used within the app are held outside of the range of personal info (genuine developer telemetry for things such as crash logs), but of course, the app could also give Google free range to all data stored within. If you read the EULA of whatever service it is it should contain a data retention clause and what parties are involved.

The app only shows you Terms Of Use and Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy is probably what has all of the relevant terms for this situation, but I would be surprised if it’s not intentionally vague about which entity handles which data.

Yea, it IS vague.

you can block trackers (i use netGuard) and the app will probably still work fine. Same with banking apps

Yeah, I do block em, but I was just wondering.

Most Google trackers currently capture the information provided by the website (at a minimum, domain and URL), your IP address and Google account ID if you’re logged in. There’s lots of leeway as to how much additional information the site provides, though.

another question would be: Now that your government has a face and a name for that telephone you’re using, what other information can they get through boogle’s trackers and what are they using it for?

MeowerMisfit817@lemmy.world on 07 Jan 15:33 collapse

And this is why I’m using tracker blockers and such.
