Materialious is usable on Web, Android (TV too) & Desktop.

It can be used with Invidious or using its own YouTube backend.

Has its own account system with end-to-end encryption for subscriptions.

Finally, something to stop YouTube from cluttering up my feed with everything I google or read on reddit

There were other frontends before) It’s not first

Looks interesting. How does it compare to FreeTube on desktop?

Ward@lemmy.nz on 16 Feb 14:06 collapse

Similar in feature set on Desktop, but we’ll also be optionally adding support for Materialious account system in future what will provide things like settings, watch history, watch progress & subscription syncing between devices.

This is mostly all already implemented with end-to-end encryption in Materialious as a web server.

My problem with all of these frontends is that how do I discover new channels? Much as the Youtube algorithm is privacy invading, it also leads me to discover channels that I wouldn’t have been able to otherwise. How do people handle this with frontends?
