In store surveillance

Anyone know any specific about this device? I cannot find a manufacturer or anything.

Its about 0.5m wide, and maybe half that thick.

There are wifi AP’s also, and a few cameras in the store. But there are more of these dishes than cameras and AP’s combined.

I know stores do bluetooth tracking through stores, but this device is way to big for that. Also wifi makes little sense given the AP’s elsewhere. High powered RFID for monitoring pieces of merchandise maybe?

RFID tracking would be my first guess. If you want to know where a tag is, you need multiple readers. Are they roughly in a grid pattern?

A second guess, are there e-ink tags in this store? These might be repeaters for programming those.

Yes roughly a grid.

No e-ink tags.

The tags all have barcodes, but also RFID

Yep, sounds like a RFID scannee

Bingo. Looks like RFID based inventory tracking from a company called RADAR

Could just be used to program digital price tags on the shelves, I’ve installed similar looking devices in stores years ago.

Likely something like this
