FYI the last easy setup way to fix Youtube is Invidious or Pipepipe (Android app) with one of the main VPNs providing service through Thailand, there may be other regions. I won’t explain the cooler options because only I deserve them. I mostly use the fire and forget method of sending it to Seal (YTDL app). Anyways when they finally seal it off they will be doing us a favor

What is special about a Thailand vpn endpoint?

Honestly, screw them. We went throught the 90s with no YT and everyone was happier.

For an excellent, and hilarious, take on this, check out Venus Theory.

As others have reported, YouTube doesn’t give a shit about account age. It’s based on what you watch.

eldavi@lemmy.ml on 13 Aug 17:04 collapse

age is a just a cover for controlling what you can see akin to “won’t somebody please think about the children!!!”

So it’s off to PeerTube then, I guess? People could post the same video on both (yt and pt), and then on yt write something like “why not watch this on PeerTube instead?” although it’d probably get taken down.

I’m surprised the toy market & microtransaction industries are not aggressively fighting this. YouTube has been the primary way for them to reach kids for the past decade.

Save us Hideo Kojima.

Good thing I don’t use YouTube anymore because they block me for using an ad blocker even though it doesn’t do much on YouTube since they switched to serving ads natively.
