I think that a simple donation for the NTP Project violates privacy

I was thinking of donating to the NTP Project when I saw this link on hacker news, because I think small amounts of donations from many people is a good thing, to maintain open source projects. The request of my address as a donator stopped me from donating. I want just to make an anonymous donation.

That’s fair. It should be optional. Having made plenty of charitible donations, it’s likely so they can send you thank you cards and solicit more donations from you.

So long as it’s not used for billing, I’ve used plenty of fake addresses for stuff like this. Usually 123 Fake St. Springfield IL in honor of the simpsons.

That’s what I use! Marge actually says, “123 Fake Street, Anytown, USA”

It’s required by US law for organizations to collect this data on donors. It’s also to your own benefit, as most charitable donations are taxed deductible

Can’t just use Fools Street 123?
