Just saw this on F-Droid (well actually on IzzySoft) and thought I’d pass it along. Haven’t tried it, please don’t kill the messenger, just sharing…

I’m amused by all the “don’t harass people!” disclaimers.

I tried this a couple of months ago. The app will not stay running in the background on Android.

Not running, not scanning.

The OS is probably optimizing it away, there might be a setting under battery management or app deep sleep that stops the OS from killing it, but it’s gonna use a bunch more battery, too. I think this is a simple enough thing that a little esp could do it instead of a whole phone app

I tweaked several settings in the OS.

Under Mobile Data for the app I allowed “background data” and “unrestricted mobile data usage”

And under battery “unrestricted” and “allow background usage”.

After all that I can’t keep the app running. 🤷

While it’s a nice thought, I prefer to have my BT disabled so I’m not being scanned by nearby APs or other networks tracking me too. It’s kind of a catch 22.
