why are german private trackers such a mess?

I highly appreciate all trackers and the work everyone puts into it but the longer I’m part of the system, the longer I see that nothing really changes (2/3 years time horizon). Most websites are old, on 9 out of 10 trackers it’s incredibly difficult (time intensive) to upload torrents. Innovation and rules are also very slow

Public facing German private trackers

In Germany it’s really risky to use torrents in general since there are lawyers that are specialised in sending people very high bills for seeding.

Most people know someone that got one of those bills over a couple of thousand euros so a lot of people are a bit traumatized when it comes to using torrents here.

I guess that’s the answer why some are afraid. Those who are afraid may just use a vpn and are safe.

BS. I’ve been torrenting in Germany for over 10 years and nothing happened. You just need to understand what you are doing. VPN and/or private trackers and you are safe.

I tried both Usenet and Torrents. Of course Usenet is way easier but is not strictly better. Torrents get content way faster than Usenet (usually within a few hours of airing).
