Do archive.today and archive.is still work?

I’ve used these sites in the past to get around article paywalls, but for weeks now I haven’t been able to get past the captcha. I fill it out correctly and it just reloads. Anyone else having this issue? Know a good alternative?

Just tested, archive.is works for me. Got past captcha first try.

archive.today and Cloudflare don’t get along with each other – as an example, if you’re using Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1), then all of the archive.today servers “can’t be found” on a pretty regular basis

How do I get around Cloudflare’s DNS?

I use Adguard’s public DNS servers. Pick unfiltered if you’re doing adblocking locally, use one of their filtered DNS servers if you want ad blackholing.

Thank you!

  • for the archive.today servers, often it’s just a matter of patience – refreshing the page an hour later can sometimes be enough for Cloudflare to suddenly “find” it again
  • for DNS servers, there’s a LOT of options out there, it’s generally a matter of finding one that suits your tastes – if you really want to get technical, apparently it’s possible to roll your own …

I use archive.ph for this purpose

I don’t even use cloudfare’s 1.1.1.1 but get into that captcha loop anyway. Worked for some weeks but since about 1 week it’s all captcha and no bueno. I have given up.

Switching DNS solved it for me! There’s a guide here, under “How To Use This Service”

Thanks, but I already know how to switch DNS and tried that with different DNS resolvers. Flushed DNS caches, too. I’m out of ideas and don’t care anymore (well…that last one is a lie 😄)
