i figured i was stuck with nowhere to go in regards to this, so as a last resort i’m going here, for real support and minimal likelihood of being made fun of. (also this post would also fit in maybe the lemmy ml open source branch but i think this slightly fits better in terms of being on topic)
this is regarding me looking for alternatives to melodyne or newtone. the following will be very crucial context to my situation. the reason why i’m posting here is because i figured that i was in a rather “embarrassing” position (embarrassing on reddit mainly) because, i’m someone who generally pirates whatever i can or asks if there’s anyone willing to help me out and buy something, and stuff like that, but recently i found out i couldn’t work on one of my fl projects that had the plugin “newtone” in it because i didn’t specifically buy the “all plugins” edition of fl studio. yes, that’s the elephant in the room, i bought fl studio (for christmas specifically) and that’s why i couldn’t post in a piracy subreddit because i felt i would get made fun of for that. i’d already gotten made fun of once in that subreddit. the only reason why i bought fl studio was because an update during late april somehow SIMULTANEOUSLY broke all versions of my fl studio, including zipped cracked installations, making it so that i would receive the same error unless i used a legitimate version. i tried everything to fix it, besides something like reinstalling windows because not only did i have no way to back up things (drives are expensive), i was too afraid to do such a thing AND windows is pretty fucky with the files, so i couldn’t ensure the storage was gonna be 1:1 with a checksum. the only other thing i had ever bought digitally in the past (or had my dad buy for me) was, if i remember correctly, roblox builder club from when i had turned 10 like over 7 years ago, and that was for my birthday at the time. the thing is, i have no bank account, and my parents always emphasized (well, that’s a lie, it was mostly in the past but… i still can’t get rid of that hesitation on requesting things from them, mainly due to my history with my parents, so i avoid bringing up what they said because i’d rather live in bliss than know what they’ll think of it now and fear it might be the same) that i couldn’t get digital games because i wouldn’t spend my inheritance well (for context, my mom’s side of the family is the richer side, while she gives nothing to my dad and is also ironically very consumerist, and we currently live in the us but we can’t move because my mom worries my sister with heavily advanced leigh syndrome wouldn’t handle the flight there) and therefore i simply… didn’t ask for anything, besides the builder club 7 years ago and fl studio last december (with a very VERY thorough explanation to my parents as to why i needed it, of course). fast forwarding to now, my main issue is that i can’t use newtone; i also once tried cracking melodyne before too but the plugin would never open at all unfortunately. ultimately, that all sums up why i couldn’t post on reddit, because i would be simultaneously shunned from piracy subreddits and regular subreddits because i’m looking to pirate AND i gave in to buying. i know the latter would only at worst lead me to being made fun of, but that would also mean that i never get a solution. and i know damn well that i tend to get downvoted on reddit or have my posts always stuck at 0 upvotes. but, i figured that this community would be kinder and more helpful, rather than cynical like on reddit, so i’m requesting help here. (thank you for reading this btw)
so yeah, all in all i’m just looking for either alternatives to newtone and/or melodyne or ways to simply get either (or both) of those for free
(if this post breaks any rules, please let me know where the rules are, and a link to them, AND provide a good place to post this elsewhere where i can actually get answers… i’ve been sick and tired of having my posts removed in other communities like on reddit, and especially with stuck-between-a-rock-and-a-hard-place scenarios with these, if i get no alternative place to post this kind of thing, it SUCKS SO HARD because i never get solutions in the end :( and i don’t know where to go… and trust me, i’ve tried ai LLMs, they are so bad at finding good suggestions for things like this, they hallucinate so much)
