If not, can anyone recommend free email that does?
I have my own domain but need a backup. Gmail has been my backup email for over 20 years. It is time for me to fix this.
edit - Free would be nice. This email account would get very little use.

neither proton, nor tuta :\
damn. thanks.
If I got it right, the emails in your Proton account are encrypted. You can see them because you are decrypting them with your password every time you log in.
Automatically forwarding an email would mean that the forward recipient would receive an encrypted email, as Proton (presumably) doesn’t know your password. I don’t know if there’s a way to decrypt it outside Proton.
As for the recommendations, I think the automatic forwarding would rule out other encrypted options like Tutanota.
Ah, that makes sense.
for most messages encryption is done by proton when they are received, because most of them are not end to end encrypted. while doing that they can just forward the original no issues. I have no idea though what can they do with messages sent from another proton account, as that’s end to end encrypted. maybe they forward the PGP encrypted message?
tutanota won’t cause any problems because messages between proton and tuta are not end to end encrypted (unless you manually set up PGP encryption, which you can do when sending to any other email providers).
mailbox.org 👍
👍👍
Thanks. Hoping to find something free but this could work.
Yes they support it.

Is that a new feature? I was looking for it a couple years ago when moving from Proton to a different service and didn’t think it was an option.
Looks like it was introduced December 14, 2023.

Thank you!
edit - Not free. $1/mo. Will consider.
You can also try doing it yourself via hydroxide + whatever email automation thingy you prefer, for example.
Been using Zoho mail with my domain for years.
